Favorite Holiday Memory: Blogmas14' Day 5

12:00:00 AM

You all know my affinity for the holiday season, I love it. There is something about this time of year that brings me so much joy. I am 100% certain that this all started when I was really little and my family played a huge role in making the holidays amazing. Every year my mom and grandma went all out. From decorations to too much food it was always a big party. Even Santa would come and visit us on Christmas Eve before he would take off to another state in his sleigh.

On Christmas morning my aunt and I (or grandma) would be the first ones up and I would rush downstairs to see what Santa left. My grandma would make the greatest caramel rolls under the sun and I would organize (yes, organize) my new toys in a big box she gave me. We would then have a big Christmas dinner later in the afternoon and pack up to leave the next day.

I do believe my favorite holiday memory was having all of our family together. We would have Christmas with my dad's parents and my mom's parents...aunts, uncles, cousins, grandmas, and grandpas would all get together. I loved it. Things have quite changed since then. Our last Christmas was my mom, brother, sister, and I. People passed away, got a divorce, became distant, or became angry and Christmas has never really been the same since then. They let life get in between the miracle of the holiday season and their family.

There is no doubt I loved all of the traditions that we had since I was little and it was really hard letting go of those traditions but what I do know is I cannot wait to start my own traditions and re-create the kind of holiday season I had for my own family. I love that I love the holidays so much. There is so much to be thankful for and this is the perfect time to give back and support one another.

In a nutshell, after I made you read all of this, my favorite holiday memory is being surrounded by a big loving family. Although this is no longer how it goes I hope to start my own family (can we all just cross our fingers that boyfriend pops the question already?) and make our holidays the best ever.

  2. Having a big family around Christmas is the best! The craziness of having cousins aunts and uncles everywhere is the best feeling.

  4. YES!! Well, we were in high school for a couple and long distance for more so we haven't really had the best circumstances for a proposal but let's hop to it already!
