If you were to ask me what my favorite product is that I own, it would be the Clarisonic Mia. Since I graduated high school, I have suffered from acne. Today, as an adult, I still get the occasional hormonal breakout and to treat that, I use my Clarisonic.
About seven years ago, I suffered from a horrible skin infection on my face. (You can read more about that here.) I used to be that girl that had flawless skin in high school; smooth as silk and clear from impurities. I went from that to an all-over case of cystic acne. I was humiliated and the worst part was that it was incredibly painful. I tried every kind of face product. I was on multiple topical steroids and pills but nothing seemed to work. Eventually, with all the medications, things seemed to calm down but it wasn't until I received a Clarisonic that my skin started to change.
The Clarisonic Mia works to "sonic cleanse" your skin - it oscillates moving back and forth, flushing water and cleanser deep into your pores. This is truly the deepest facial cleanse you'll ever receive. It wasn't until I used this device regularly that I realized how dirty my skin was before. All of the bacteria were harbored in my pores and I wasn't able to clean it well enough to release those impurities. Now, I use the device twice daily, switching cleansing heads as necessary for what my skin needs.
The Clarisonic Mia comes with a Sonic Radiance Brush Head but my favorites are the Deep Pore Cleansing and Acne Cleansing Brush Heads. I always use the Acne brush head whenever I have a breakout - it's sensitive and delicate enough not to further erupt the inflamed area. The Deep Pore is great for when your skin is looking dull and needs rejuvenation. I like to have more than a couple on hand because they should be switched out with new heads every three months - thus, they make excellent birthday and Christmas gifts! (hint, hint mom!)
Another one of my favorite Clarisonic products is the Pore and Blemish Gel Cleanser. As I mentioned before, I occasionally have hormonal breakouts around my chin and jawline, when pairing the Acne brush head and gel cleanser my face feels incredibly clean and free from impurities. This cleanser has 2% active salicylic acid so it works to treat and cure any active breakouts.
Note: The gel cleanser can be drying so make sure to moisturize after use!
My skin now has changed drastically over the course of the years. My main concern is no longer acne, I deal with acne scars (or battle wounds as I think of them), pre-mature smile lines, and keeping my skin supple. My face is the most important part of my body and using products such as my Clarisonic Mia is incredibly important is treating and preventing breakouts and also preventing early aging. This is the one device that I cannot live without, if you have gone through a tramatic skin infection then you understand.
Whether you are worried about dark spots, pimples, wrinkles, blackheads, hormone issues, etc., this device will help combat those issues. The process of removing impurities is no match to a wash cloth or washing by hand.
