2019 Hiatus - Tay Meets World

2019 Hiatus

It's been a long time - almost a year in fact! Truth is, I've missed writing and this space of mine on the interweb. I took a much needed hiatus. 2019 brought a lot of change: I moved myself and my pup to a new state, bought a house, took on a new role at work, had the most insane year of my career, cultivated my friendships, and found myself.

I believe that everyone goes through a time in their life when they "re-find" themselves. Most of the time, this happens a lot later in life - insert mid-life crisis here. For me, I removed myself from a toxic relationship and took a year to discover who I am in my mid-twenties. For so long, I lived for the approval of others. I would move, work, etc., for everyone else without considering what I wanted in life. While my friends were all getting married and having babies all the while getting settled in a career they semi-hated I decided there is no way I wanted that. At least, not right now. I am now in a place where I am 100% comfortable with who I am as a person. I know myself, what I like, what I dislike, what I deserve and don't deserve, I have cultivated relationships that are everlasting and I love where I'm at. Even more so, I am so excited about where I'm going.

The pressures of society are real.  You have to be married in your early 20's, have kids before you're 30, you can't career hop or change careers because it looks bad, blah blah blah. I am a firm believer that four years of college isn't enough time discovering yourself or what you want to do for the rest of your life. Heck, who says you have to have the same career your entire life?! I needed more time to figure it out and I wasn't figuring it out living in the cookie cutter scenario I was in at the end of 2018.

So, I'm back, and I'm changing the game. Defying the societal odds and proving that you don't have to blend in with the others and follow the imaginary rules we set for ourselves. It took me a year to figure that out...but I'm so glad I did.
