Your Magic Potion To Achieving Your Dreams in 2020

10:13:00 AM

It's only the 6th day of the year and I already feel so excited about how far I've come in accomplishing the goals I've set. You may be thinking, "How is that even possible?" That's what I'm here to share with you today - just how possible it is!

I set pretty big goals for myself this year - goals such as paying off all student debt, starting my own business, running a half marathon, getting my blog and social platforms to a certain # of followers, etc. I've spent 5 days tackling major tasks - hours spent brainstorming and now, doing. The only way, that I know of, of accomplishing all the goals I have set is to put in the work. I have to dedicate myself to my dreams and goals - and not stop until I accomplish them.

Here's What I Believe: There is no dream, too big or too small, that you cannot accomplish. How do I know this? Because someone has already accomplished it.

You want to start your own company? Great - a million other people have started companies, you can totally do it! You want to run a half marathon? Wonderful - a million other people have trained for and completed a half marathon before. You want to be President? Awesome - I hope you're the 46th, 47th, or 48th President. You want to walk on the moon? Please do! It's been done before so I know you can do it. You want to be the 1st person to create a new product? Amazing! That's exactly what Steve Jobs thought when he created the Apple Computer. There is no dream too big for you to have that you cannot accomplish.

Dreamers and go-getters have pioneered and paved the way for all the rest of us to conquer our dreams, you just have to have the right foundation to do so.

What is this foundation equipped of?
1. Tenacity

  • A tenacious person is one who runs on passion. It's in their blood. This is someone who will do anything it takes to achieve what they believe and to be successful in their life. They don't let go or forget of the larger picture and they certainly don't take no for an answer.
2. Determination

  • A determined person is one who is living out their purpose. They understand, that through all obstacles, they have something greater waiting for them and they are determined to achieve it.
3. Self-Motivation & Accountability

  • Notice I didn't just put "motivation" here. We as humans, have to 100% rely on ourselves to achieve what we want. I've always lived by the quote, "you can't help someone that doesn't want help." It's in you, yourself, that holds the power to make a change...to make a difference. You want to lose weight? Only you can push yourself to eat right and exercise. You want to be financially frugal? Only you have the power to stop yourself from spending. The list goes on, but people, hear me out - achieving your dreams must come from you. There is no one else that can get you there - you have to hold yourself accountable and really want to make a change or difference in your life.
4. Persistency

  • A lot of us start goals, then stop them. We have excuses for the lack of follow through based on how life circumstances or experiences get in the way. That was me circa 2017. I had so many dreams...but I made excuses on why I couldn't accomplish them. All that changed when certain life events happened last year and I forced myself to be persistent with the dreams and goals I had. Life is hard. There are going to be obstacles, but if you are determined then you must be persistent through these obstacles and keep moving.
5. Action

  • This is the hardest one in my opinion. Coming up with the ideas, dreams and goals are easy. It's actually doing something or making progress towards said goals/dreams/ideas that most people get tied up in. About a month ago, I started reading "Girl, Wash Your Face," and watching Rachel Hollis. Let's call her the ultimate hype girl. She recently released a priority planner and vision journal for 2020 and I've been using both daily. I have been prioritizing my goals and turning them into actions. To get where you want to be...you have to do something about it. You have to turn all of those brilliant ideas into actionable items that you can accomplish daily. For example, if you have a goal of drinking more water, then bringing a reusable water bottle to work and holding yourself accountable in drinking and refilling it all day is what you must do to complete this goal.
There it is - your magic potion for achieving anything you want. There are no excuses. There are no excuses because people everyday, everywhere, are making moves to achieve their dreams and aspirations - you just have to have the willpower to want to do so as well.

I will leave you with this:

We are given one life. One precious life. One chance to live it the best way we can. Do not go one day without trying to be a better version of you. Be more kind, be more actionable, be more motivated, be more determined, be more tenacious - be more intentional. It's up to ourselves to life our best life. Are you going to live yours?
