The 5 Jackets Every Gal Needs In Her Capsule Wardrobe

If you have been around for awhile you have probably seen some of these jackets on repeat - all the time. If you are looking to start a wardrobe, refresh your wardrobe, or live more intently with what you have then these are 5 pieces that will go a long way. A capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don't go out of fashion and that can be transitioned seasonally. The 5 jackets every gal should have in her closet are a denim jacket, moto jacket, boyfriend blazer or blazer,  utility jacket, and trench coat.

1. Denim Jacket | I know what you're thinking here, she paired denim x denim! 😱 I wanted to show all the jackets with basic jeans and white tee to show how versatile they are, that's what makes them favorable for a capsule wardrobe. The denim jacket, will never go out of style - I love it paired with a white denim or cute skirt. If you love the denim on denim look just make sure your washes are different so you have some contrast. Here are a couple of other looks I've styled with this jacket: Spring Outfit - Styled with Slip Skirt
2. Moto Jacket | This has been my go-to as of late. Perfect for a night out, date night, or to dress "up" your outfit a bit more. You can't go wrong with a basic black or cognac jacket. I will link some of my favorite options below. Here are a couple of ways I have styled this particular jacket: Dressed Up - Over a Dress
3. Utility Jacket | The utility trend is back again this spring; I purchased this utility jacket from Old Navy a few years ago...it's been worn and loved (might be time for an upgrade). This is a great transition piece to get you from winter to spring and from summer to fall. It's one of those pieces I grab when the weather isn't warm enough yet but isn't cold enough for a heavier jacket. You can pair with florals or a simple sweater underneath. It also looks super cute with white or ivory denim or a printed skirt! See another look here.
4. Boyfriend Blazer | Although my boyfriend blazer is pink, I almost consider pink a neutral since I wear it all the time lol. I would go for a grey/black/navy boyfriend blazer that you can wear year round, with anything! This pairs well with any colored denim, skirts, trousers, or certain dresses. Roll up the sleeves and wear a graphic tee underneath for a casual look or pair with work trousers, heels, and a blouse underneath for work. I have linked some of my current favorite options!
5. Trench Coat | Lastly, the trench coat. This is the easiest jacket to have in your ensemble that will carry you all through late winter to spring, rainy and colder days in summer, and brisk fall days. This one from Gap is great quality, it's lined and a bit heavier - I tie it pulled back behind so I can throw on and go. Here are a couple of looks with it styled: Transition to Spring, Pretty In Pink, Casual Look with Sneakers!
