Work To Holiday Party In 5 Minutes

12:00:00 AM

It's no secret that this time of year can be the busiest for most of us. You're finishing projects up before the end of the year at work, attending work parties, holiday parties, family gatherings, and everything in between. With busy schedules, I'm all for making things easy. Easy hair-do's, outfits, recipes, hostess gifts, and of course, easy makeup looks. I'm sharing a makeup tutorial to take you from work to holiday party in just five minutes. Sounds easy, right?!
I wear the same "basic" makeup each day: foundation, eyebrow pencil, concealer, mascara and setting powder. This is a great base for the makeup look I'm sharing today, and it's a great place to start. I want to create a look that was bold and shimmer-full! After all, it is the holidays so some added glitz and glam is definitely necessary in my opinion.
Here are the products I use, and types of makeup you'll want to use to recreate the look. All of these pieces can be found at your nearest Ulta Beauty or online! The colors are all underlined below:
1. Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in Sunlight
2. NYX Professional Makeup Prismatic Eyeshadow in Liquid Gold
3. MAC Dazzleshadow Eyeshadow in Last Dance
4. NYX Professional Makeup Prismatic Eyeshadow in Punk Heart
5. Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen in Black
6. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Perversion
7. Ulta Beauty Collection Maximum Lashes Mascara
8. Benefit Cosmetics Debutante Lash
9. Urban Decay Naked Flushed in Going Native
10. MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Beaming Blush
11. NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte
12. NYX Professional Makeup Liquid Suede Metallic Cream in Modern Maven
To start, I used Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in "Sunlight" for the base coat on my eyes. Shake the bottle, then add one drop to the back of your hand. Apply the shimmer with a brush over your eyelids almost  up to the brow.
It may seem like this product would be very heavy but it's very lightweight and super easy to apply. I found using a blending brush worked best. I then used that brush (IT Brushes For Ulta Airbrush Blending Crease brush #105) for the other eyeshadows.
Next, we are going to apply the eyeshadows, starting first with NYX Professional Makeup in "Liquid Gold" (pictured in the center). Using the IT Cosmetics for Ulta Crease brush, add a layer of this shimmering shadow on your eyelid. Add more or less, depending on how much shimmering gold you want. 😍
After the added gold, I lightened the upper lids with MAC's Dazzleshadow in Last Dance. Using your brush, simply swipe some of the light, iridescent pink on the upper lid under your brow. I added a few brush strokes  of the Dazzleshadow to achieve a nice shimmer under my brow.
I amped up the eye metallics next with NYX Professional Makeup Eyeshadow in "Punk Heart." This purple may seem daunting at first but it's fairly subtle and adds a gorgeous smokey, metallic glow to your lids. Using your crease brush, swipe the purple in the out corners of your eyelid, on the bottom and top - making sort of a sideways V shape.
It may not seem like I used a lot but I was pretty generous with the shadows, they are just soft and subtle. Perfect for the gal who wants to be glam but not over-the-top!
I then added some liner. Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen in Black to the upper lash line, and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil to the bottom lash line. This helps to define your waterline and make your eyes pop!
Here is when you can add some bold lashes - I've done this look with and without the Benefit Cosmetics Debutante Lashes. If you prefer to forgo false lashes, I recommend adding another coat of the Ulta Beauty Maximum Lashes Mascara for a thick and full look.
After I finished my eyes, I focused on highlighting and contouring my skin. The Urban Decay Naked Flushed "Going Native" kit is perfect for adding a subtle pink to the apples of your cheeks. I used the bronzer to add some more dimension to my cheekbones, then I followed with MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Beaming Blush. I used this as a highlighter and added it to the tops of my cheekbones and down my nose.
Last but certainly not least...I added a bold lip! Reds, maroons, and dark purples are all beautiful lip colors for the winter season. I went with NARS Audacious Lipstick in "Charlotte" and NYX Professional Makeup Liquid Suede Metallic Cream in Modern Maven. If you've never tried a cream lipstick, you are seriously missing out. It's the perfect finish on top of all your matte lipsticks OR perfect on its own.
First, apply your lipstick; it is beneficial to apply a darker color with a lip brush for greater precision. To add in the metallic flare we have going, I topped it off with a liquid Suede Metallic Cream Lipstick. This added more shine to the matte lip, adding dimension and extra pout💋.

The very last step to this look is to change into a super cute ensemble and party the night away! I opted for a shimmery pleated skirt and velvet cami to complete the look. It's not everyday that I get to play up my makeup look and outfit so I wanted to add some glam, punk and keep it ultra feminine.
