DIY Nesting Boxes + TBT
11:10:00 AMI have been lusting over Kate Spade nesting boxes for a long time now. I have gotten so close to purchasing them too…but somehow my will power takes over and I realize spending $50+ on boxes right now is not worth it!
I searched and searched for another set of nesting boxes that are similar to the Kate Spade ones but I found nothing. That's when I decided to make my own…with a little twist, and only $20!
1// I found this 3 piece box set at our local Michaels craft store for only $8!
My favorite labels, on sale at Staples for $2!
2// Pick your paint. I decided I wanted to go monochromatic with each box, so I put the lighter color on top and the darker color on the bottom.
3// I used a craft roller to paint. The box looked as though it was that color instead of being painted, know what I mean?!
4// Let your boxes curate for a day or so..it took me awhile to find gold tape so it worked out.
4// I used Scotch Gold Washi Tape that I found at Target. There was no other store in Sioux Falls that had gold tape! This wasn't my first choice but I love how it turned out.
5// The washi tape goes on really easy and if you mess up it is easy to take off and re-do
See how pretty it looks:)
6// I added some gold paint to the labels so they would match the tape. I recommend using a metallic spray paint, it's a lot easier than painting them!
The finished product:)
I am totally gaga over how these boxes turned out! I no longer feel the need (or want) to purchase the Kate Spade nesting boxes…well, for now:)
Now for #Blogtober14, I am posting some TBT pictures of Halloween….
Lucky me, at age 4 my sister was Woody for Halloween and I got to be her sidekick. The next year she was Sully from Monsters Inc. and my parents begged me to be Mike, I definitely put an ex-nay on that one.
